Holiday update

Happy New Year, everyone! Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas. Mine was great- a nice, mellow day spent with my parents and my sister, all of whom were suitably impressed by my knitted gifts (though my sister laughed at the colour scheme of dad's wine cozy, asking me why on earth it was rainbow striped. When I explained that the other colour option available was bright pink, she agreed that my choice was a completely sensible one). My parents gifted me with a whole heap of fabulous Bendy yarn-

...some of which is already in the process of becoming a jumper. (I'm actually a lot further on than this picture shows. The jumper is knit in the round from the top down, and I've almost reached the bottom of the body.)

I finished my Ranco socks on Christmas Day (it was like an extra Christmas present that I gave to myself! Oh, and my feet aren't really this big, it's just the camera angle).

On Boxing Day, we went to visit my relatives on my dad's side. (My aunt is an knitter and my cousin is an avid crocheter, so while I was there I clued them both in to the existence of Ravelry.) On the way to and from their place, I started work on a new sock.

The ever-popular Monkey socks, in STR 'Space Dust'.

A couple of days later, I received my tea cozy swap package from the wonderful gusseting!

A rockin' tea cozy (which really does keep the tea very cozy indeed), a card, some tea, some hand-dyed patonyle, and a giant (giant!) container full of shortbread, some of which I just ate. (I've frozen a lot of it for later consumption. Yes, it is that good.)

I've spent the best part of the New Year doing a huge amount of nothing (well, a fair bit of knitting on my new jumper, but that's about it). Tomorrow, I'm heading off for a week or so of sleeping on friends' lounges, going to the beach, and seeing an old friend of mine get married. I can't wait.
