Where did Spring go?
It has become unseasonably chilly here of late- that annoying, can't-make-up-its-mind chilliness that's not cold enough for a jumper, but enough to penetrate through long sleeved shirts and light jackets. It feels more like late winter than late spring. What gives, nature? I should be sauntering around in shorts and singlet tops, and applying layer upon layer of sunscreen so that my pasty white flesh doesn't burn like a pot roast. Instead, I'm hunting desperately through the wardrobe for something to wear (I got rid of a lot of winter clothes during my giant spring clean a month or so back) and pulling the woolen socks out of retirement.
Speaking of woolen socks, I'm really, really enjoying my latest sock project.
The pattern is 'Bellatrix' from the Socktopia website, and yarn is Yarn Pirate in the 'Rebel' colourway (pattern and yarn were Halloween gifts from Redford Phyl). The yarn is awesome, but it's the pattern that's really floating my boat. I think it's the illicit thrill of gleefully dropping yarn-overs left, right and center that's gotten me hooked. Besides, it knits up fast (I'm up to the heel turn, despite having had very little time to knit of late) and the dropped stitches (combined with the black, purple and grey of the yarn) make my little wannabe goth* heart go pitty-pat.
In other news, I have four concerts in the next four days. All of them involve different repertoire. At least it'snever boring rarely boring giving me lots of time to knit while waiting to perform.
*I experimented with goth fashions during a very brief period in the late nineties. It wasn't pretty.

oooh pretty. Or should that be (actually, I don't know if there are any particular "goth" sayings). I've got this pattern in my queue too - so cool to see it knit up!
Those socks are gorgeous! I had to zip over to ravelry and peruse the 109 pairs that are being knit up. I might have to add that to the queue. I finally listened to your interview on Sticks and STring. What fun! I esp. loved the recorder version of Sheep May Safely Graze or whatever the heck it's called.
