Another day...

...another dishcloth.
I'm aiming to make about ten of these for Christmas gift-giving purposes. That number should be enough for friends/distant family/emergency presents, and I can simply keep any that are left over at the end of the festive season. Score!

I've been doing a lot of knitting over the weekend, but sadly, I can't show you any of it. I recently signed up for a tea cozy swap run by the 'Australian Knitters' group on Ravelry. I was assigned my swap partner on Saturday morning, and subsequently spent the entirety of Saturday cranking out an extremely kitschy tea cozy. I'm rather proud of it, and a bit bummed that I can't show you (just in case my swap partner reads this blog).

Speaking of Ravelry, did you know that I wrote a pattern that's listed on there? Because I didn't. Not until a few days ago, anyway.

A couple of years ago, I wrote a pattern for a Trogdor stuffed toy (if you have no idea what Trogdor is, this informative cartoon should clear things up) and posted it on Craftster.

I never really thought that people would actually make them, let alone having the pattern listed on Ravelry. But so far, there are two Trogdors besides my own, and the pattern has been queued twenty-two times. Twenty-two times. My mind is thoroughly boggled.

Should you feel the burning urge for some burnination, the pattern is available here.

The Sticks and String episode with my interview is now available for download. I was relieved to hear that I don't sound like a total moron, and I only did the 'stupid laugh' a couple of times. (I'm still ticked off with myself for forgetting about the silly hats- but then, there hasn't been a lot of silly hat action around here in the past week).

Finally, I got an amazing, amazing package from Redford Phyl, my partner in Lime and Violet's Halloween Sock Kit Swap! (Halloween isn't a big holiday here in Australia, but I've always had a soft spot for it because it falls on the day before my birthday. Also, costumes! Lollies! Chocolate! Scaring people for no apparent reason! What's not to like?)

Just look at all this stuff! A great card, two Harry Potter themed sock patterns, some Halloween-y pencils and erasers, Halloween stitch markers, stitch markers to use with 'New Pathways for Sock Knitters' (I must get that book!), a couple of little games, a tiny wooden crochet hook, Hershey chocolate, a candy skeleton, a brilliant skull project bag, the soundtrack to 'Stubbs the Zombie', and a skein of Yarn Pirate in the 'Rebel' colourway. Thank you so much, Phyl!

great dishcloths - so bright and happy! Tell me, do you work an edging on the sides or leave as is? I can't work out a neat edging for mine at present...

Congrats on the published pattern and the podcast interview, too - score!

A pattern for Trogdor the Buninator? That is totally awesome - I now have something to knit for my male internet-trolling, video-game-playing friends from high school!

Love the bright dishcloths. It's painful not being able to show our tea cosies isn't it? Great fun though. Isn't Ravelry fan-bloomin'-tastic!!

Hi Michelle,
I found you through Bex blog (Subversive Lesbian Anarchic Knitta). Hope you don't mind me contacting you.
I am a Melbourne artist, and I'm creating an installation for an art exhibition for the 2008 Midsumma Festival (which is the equivalent of Mardi Gras in Sydney).
I'm looking for Melbourne based knitters who would like to collaborate on this project with me and my artist partner Justine Wallace.
In a nutshell, I am creating a satirical political installation that involves 50cm high models of world recognisable architectural structures, such as Big Ben, Empire State Building, Dubai Clock Tower, Taj Mahal, etc and I need clothing knitted for these structures, such as jumpers, beanies, scarves, ear muffs, etc. As I’m not a knitter, I’d love to work with queer folk that would like to create these gems.
Would you be able to help me source people (preferably in Melbourne) that may be interested in participating in this project.
Please email me if you can. Or, if anyone else is reading this on the blog.
I look forward to hearing from you.
cheers
